Why catted?

Due to global environmental friendly needs & market expansion in 2022, we'll be releasing a new catted version downpipe. Our goal is to improve the performance without the need for tuning the ECU while still being able to install the downpipe.

    Here we have below are the most frequently asked questions regarding our downpipe products.
     
    1) Do you have de-catted downpipes? What's the point of adding a catalyst?
    A: Due to new environmental regulations, catted downpipes have become a new trend. We try our best to maintian the best balance between environmental protection and performance.
     
    2) Do you have 200 cell or 300 cell downpipes?
    A: Currently, we only use 350 cell and 400 cell catalysts.
    These are the numbers that have been tested with the best results for the precious metal coating attaching more to the catalyst carrier. 
    The precious metals on the catalyst are directly related to the lifespan of the downpipe. At least during the time that the vehicle is still warranty valid, it can significantly reduce the chances of thrown CELs caused by the decline in catalyst efficiency.
    On the other hand, for lesser cell cats, lesser precious metals are attached, causing the lifespan of the downpipe to be shortened.
     
    3) Will the exhaust smell bad if there is a catalyst?
    A: There will still be a slight exhaust odor during cold starts. But when the car reaches the temperature where the precious metal start to take effect, the exhaust odor will be greatly reduced.
    Compared with the smell of de-catted downpipes, the exhaust odor is reduced by about 80-90%. There will be a slight smell of carbon when driving at high rpms for longer periods of time.
    This is a normal situation due to the catalyst converting the exhaust gas.
     
    4) Does it throw CELs? Is there the need to tune the ECU if my car is stock?
    A: Our downpipe won't throw CELs until the precious metal is consumed. We use real precious metal catalysts to provide the correct O2 signal to the vehicle.
    After installing our downpipe, there is no need for tuning the ECU to expand the detection range of O2 detection signals.
    But, the catalyst still has a limited lifespan. As the mileage of the vehicle increases, the precious metals on it will decline, and in the end, the CEL will be thrown.
     
    5) Is there any sort of structure inside the downpipe that blocks signals?
    A: Our downpipe does not have a signal blocking structure. A truely effective downpipe can't have a blocking structure. Our downpipe relies on the signals generated by the conversion of the catalyst.
    In recent years, new vehicle models have become smarter. The vehicles must detect the real O2 signal so that the ECU can provide the correct fuel supply and the performance can be improved. The blocked signal is not as accurate and direct as the signal provided from the catalytic reaction.
    Although there won't be any CELs, the car will not give you more performance.
    The lesser number of cells, does not mean the guarauntee of more performance from the vehicle. It all depends on whether the precious metals on the catalyst can really work.
     
    6) Will there be power loss during low gears? Is there really an improvement in performance?
    A: After our downpipe is installed, performances during mid to high speeds are both improved.
     
     
    As mentioned above, as long as the O2 signal is correctly provided to the ECU, the vehicle's performance can be effectively improved.
